Ina Garten’s risotto recipe instructs:
“The correct heat is important in making risotto. It should be ‘lively”; too high heat and the grains don’t cook evenly, and too low heat will result in a gluey mess.”

Periodically we should remind ourselves that if helpful suggestions and sympathy from people were sufficient to work out a significant emotional problem, nobody would need a therapist.

From a secular standpoint I still agree with this.
Forgiveness won't, imo, have the same positive impact on the forgiver if underpinned by a coercive quality - if in that circumstance it could still be considered forgiveness at all.

I think when forgiveness is framed as an obligation or commandment it risks re-abusing abused individuals
