While Bazoum is imprisoned after the coup in Niger, former president Mahamadou Issoufou ( and old friend of Bazoum) continues his international travels. Here he is with the leader of the French Socialist Party at a meeting of socialists .

The 19th-century German explorer Heinrich Barth referred to the eastern Iwellemedan as "awelimmiden wuen bodhal," meaning "the Iwellemedan of buḍal"

It seems that this was the name by which the Tuareg knew them at that time .

“May schools multiply among the Ibarkorayan,
and may corpses be made among the Iwellemedan"

These words are attributed to Aljilani ag Ibrahim ancient leader of the Ibarkorayan 💀

I have always found it strange that the Tetserret word /aḍi/ (wind, smell) has a final -i while in Tamajq and most Amazigh languages it's /aḍu/ with a final -u

I just saw in this group that this final -i is also attested in Zenaga /aḍi/

There is this article which talks about the relations between the Songhai emperor Askia Mohamed and the preacher Al-Maghili who was opponent of the Jews and apparently he also had problem with the Massufa of Timbuktu.

When two Tuaregs meet in Libya 😂

The one filming is from northern Mali.

The other is from Abalak in Niger.

They can understand each other even though their accents are different .

The tetserret word Afagan (Person) is certainly a loanword from a northern Amazigh language. But it's not attested in Tamajeq and Zenaga .

An old word retained in tetserret or tetserret borrowed it independently of tamajeq and zenaga?

Today in Chintabaraden there was a ceremony for the new chief of the Ibarkorayan Acharifan.

In Tamajeq this kind of ceremony is called tangaṭ (the veiling) .

It's strange that the traditional Tuareg bread is called Tagəlla in Tamajeq but tawnəft in Tetserret. Even though these two words come from pan-Amazigh roots, the Tetserret form is closer to the forms found in Ghomara and in languages geographically close to it .

September 14, 2025 at 2:05 PM
I haven't found a clear cognate for the Tetserret word awwud (stone, mountain).

Perhaps it's simply a metathesis of adɣaɣ which in Tamajaq refers to a mountain and in other Amazigh languages to stone ?

In the dedication of Massinisa there is this Libyan word SBSNDH in which the element SBS- has been related to the modern Amazigh word Aseggas (Year). If it's correct perhaps the other part NDH can correspond to the word 'andi' which means 'before, in the past' ?

But this is very speculative
