Now, at 54, I think 1941 is a hot mess. At that point Spielberg was so huge, he could do whatever he wanted, and maybe Zemeckis was a bad influence, but it's all good now. Just look at what they accomplished together a few years later. Btw, I still like 1941 a lot

I was about 20 at the time, and watched it with my friends. So I didn't/couldn't cry. But I know exactly what you mean.

Just got home from a 50th anniversary screening. It is a near perfect film, but without Williams or with a "normal" action/disaster film score it wouldn't be nearly as good

To a degree, there's no Lucas or Spielberg without Williams. How fortunate it was that Williams scored Sugarland Express and it turned out to be excellent. Then Jaws and five decades of wonderful cinema

Lucas' films are usually big music films, Raiders for example. Imagine American Graffiti without music
