Journalists: please stop using the word "mercurial." Folks don't understand what it means, and even when they do, it comes off as spontaneous or aloof (but in a cool way!)

Some thesaurus suggestions: Unpredictable, Volatile, Unstable, Inconsistent, Erratic, Unreliable, Haphazard, or Untrustworthy.

Just tell me that my appointment is at 9:45. I can handle it; I'm an adult.
