I don't think it ranks among Cronenberg's best films, partly because it's adapted from a stage play and it is very stagey, partly because Cronenberg is just better suited to rendering the Freudian than Freud.

I'm snowed under with great comics, I got From Hell for Christmas, and I just reread V for Vendetta for the book club, which was great to revisit having not read it since I was at school. (Susan being a fascist infatuated with a computer has aged very well, unfortunately.)

An all-WWE wrestler remake of We Were Soldiers sounds great actually, giving the Viet Cong powerbombs and body slams and so forth.

Also it occurs to me that in the realms of generally easygoing lighthearted pulpy sci-fi superhero adventures about a family group led by a scientist patriarch you've also got Tom Strong, which is far from Alan Moore's most cerebral work but is carried along by a huge wealth of fun ideas.

I think Witch Hat Atelier is one of the best comics of the last decade or so specifically because it's full of warmth and joy *but also* takes the time to contrast it against serious cruelty and negligence, and emphasises that kindness requires effort, and does all that really well.
