Depends on where you go. I lived in Sydney for a while and was horrified to see that SOH was a tourist attraction with kids screaming and people in beach attire munching on popcorn. I’ve not experienced anything like this in Europe, where opera is still opera.

Stunning! There’s something Halstonesque about this dress, though I think he would have made the silhouette more A-line. The “architectural” shape and the colour make this design so dramatic and bold!

That explains it on many levels - very few things, starry skies included, compare favourably to Attica.

I find Arcimboldo interesting- some of his work is almost a bit spooky for me, other pieces are quirky, witty and aesthetically pleasing. The Librarian is definitely in the latter category.

Additional inspiration for this 👆🏼design were simple but striking chevrons. Chevrons were used as symbols in the Vinča Culture proto-writing (~6000-5000 BC, #Serbia), later appearing as decorations on Minoan pottery (~1800 BC, #Greece) excavated at Knossos, Crete.
