Ionic Mobility in Energy Materials: Through the Lens of Quasielastic Neutron Scattering
Many energy-related materials rely on ionic migration for their function. Examples include the flow of ions in battery or fuel cell electrolytes or the coupled flow of ions and electrons in electrodes...

Nikola Tesla died on Serbian Christmas #OTD. Brilliantly clever, eloquent, elegant and modest, he may have invented the 20th century, but he did not fit into its mercenary entrepreneurial ways. He died poor in the New Yorker Hotel on 7 January 1943.

Seriously fabulous #FabOnFriday✨- student protests in #Belgrade #Serbia against a corrupt, shameless, greedy government, unworthy of them; unworthy of us.
How about you, #EU - what do you prefer this time: Serbian democracy or Serbian lithium?

Medusa, from the National Archaeological Museum in #Athens. Was she a born monster (as Aeschylus wrote) or was she a once-beautiful woman (as Pindar wrote) turned into a monster by vengeful Athena? It seems that even in 5c BC men couldn’t quite figure women out. 😉

#FabOnFriday✨ on the eve of the #PrimaScala is the magical Teatro alla Scala itself. From the “Aaaahhh…” by the door, to watching a sound-check from the Royal Box, to enjoying its musical and aesthetic splendour, for an opera lover - La Scala is a dream; it’s la forza del destino.

#MariaCallas 🇬🇷 was born #OTD 101 years ago. Today many celebrate La Divina, the superstar. I celebrate Maria Callas, the woman - talented, spirited, passionate, courageous, uncompromising, always true to herself. No limelight, costumes, make-up; just her bare face and her voice.

Giacomo #Puccini died #OTD 100 years ago. To many, his name means #opera; nothing wrong with that. Today’s #FabOnFriday✨ is arguably the most iconic live aria performance ever - Vissi d’arte interpreted by Maria Callas as Tosca at Covent Garden in 1964.

On 28 November 1520, Magellan entered the Pacific Ocean, en route to accomplishing the first circumnavigation of the globe. Magellan sailed on the Victoria, the only ship of a fleet of five to complete the expedition. Her sails were wings; her prize, the glory; her battle, the sea.

Belated addition to yesterday’s #MosaicMonday👇🏼… I forgot my favourite little fellow from @oceanomonaco.bsky.social
He looks a bit miffed, but is quite cute and good-natured, really.

Marine wildlife-inspired #MosaicMonday from one of my favourite museums, Oceanographic Museum of Monaco @OceanoMonaco. Founded over 100 years ago, for three decades this beautiful museum enjoyed the directorship of the famous explorer, inventor and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau.

#FreddieMercury died #OTD in 1991. Spanning music genres & four octaves, multifaceted, unique - singer, composer, poet; private man, flamboyant performer, lover of life.

His last interview - My Melancholy Blues piano meets In My Defence lyrics and vocals.👇🏼

Today I start something new: #FabOnFriday✨ - my nod to whatever image, sound, word, scent, from anywhere or any time, captures the imagination on the day. For the premiere, naturally, it has to be an evening dress design, one of my own; inspired by flickering midnight sky.

#OTD in 1970, Mike Wallace interviewed Maria Callas. The condescension, aggression, word-twisting, finger-wagging… (from 2:30, link below).

Any similarity to the 21st century treatment of women who don’t fit the mould is, of course, purely coincidental!
