The CMA has just published its provisional decision in the Vets market investigation, which includes a great piece of econometric analysis. We use a diff-in-diff design to show that corporate acquisitions cause average prices to increase by 9% within 4 years.

Very much second this!
Attention IO job market candidates:

Sometimes speakers in the CMA's external economics seminar series have to cancel at relatively short notice. We would love for these slots to go to JMCs to present their job market paper.

Drop me a message if you are interested or share with those who might be.

The UK will soon have a new industrial strategy. What can we learn from past policies, and from examining the sectors in the government's recent green paper?

Our new CMA report looks at the data.
