i find it so entertaining that the origins of mecha as a genre is just japan coping with losing the world war by depicting themselves as the cool super robot that can shoot laser beams and rockets and america as the gross monsters that get slaughtered by said robot on a weekly basis

unironically minecraft movie, every time he declared the name of a thing, the entire cinema politely clapped as if we were watching a live performance, but i have oddly never felt such community during any sort of performance before, it was strange

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.
