Back to work at my job in the film lab, but taking a second to think about SXSW Syd and how great of a first showcase experience it was. Definitely got the live event bug now and hoping to get down for MIGW next year.

As of today I have officially been working at this film lab for a whole year. Best job I've had so far, best boss too... Truly kept me afloat during the worst time of my life. Anyway, here is a shot from the first roll the lab developed for me.

I really like taking photos of Kamen Rider Black...

Went to the Auburn Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday and shot a roll of CineStill 400D on my Nikon N50. First time seeing them and I'm really happy with how the pinks turned out on this particular roll.

Expired + defective roll of CineStill 50D that got some gnarly purple blotches all over the photos.

Shot on the Zenza Bronica in Canberra.

My two rolls of film that I shot on the Bronica in Canberra turned out to be expired and with factory defects. The shots of the Carillon aren't quite what I hoped for... But I shot like 6 rolls down there, so the spam is coming.

They don't make children's movies like Star Kid (1997) anymore. Like actual freak shit for the kids to onboard them into liking all the cool weird shit that might be a little too much at a young age...

Went down to Canberra for the weekend to shoot some film around the derelict local icons and to see my first Lucha show. Absolutely amazing night, voice is still shredded and my jacket reeks of Tequila... But we can safely add this to the list of experiences that helped me survive 2025.

There are cathedrals everywhere for those with eyes to see

First roll of Portra 400 where I feel like i actually saw the appeal it seems to have for so many film shooters... Anyway, here's a couple of shots from a very therapeutic walk I had through the Nan Tien Temple one Autumn afternoon.

Finally getting round to the proper opening cutscene for SamUni and gang... This game is really cool. The scene is a heavily reworked version of the Mass Hack short that takes advantage of much stronger writing, character motivation, and world building for the game.

Did the architectural tour of the Opera House with Adam as a way to prep for mission 02. Snapped some film photos with my trusty Nikon N50 and a roll of XP2.

When I restock the cabinet and have to fight the urge so bad cause I do not make enough to justify the reckless spending 😭
August 4, 2025 at 12:35 AM
Went into the city with a Retro Rareware bag full of film cameras to shoot reference pics of the Opera House. Architectural tour was actually pretty cool, so I am eagerly awaiting those photos to get developed.

"So it's just gonna be a catchment dam just outside of the city, doesn't have to be anything fancy..."

"Have you read the poem Ozymandias?"

Almost forgot to vote, but these ones don't come around that often! Despite my life in 2025, I swear there is no theme.

How good is it that you can just throw a bunch of vegetables plus some chorizo on a tray with oil/smoked paprika... And then it just works.

Haymarket on a wet Wednesday evening was the perfect vibe for some SamUni reference photography. The starburst filter was certainly filtering too...

Taking the Bronica out on a Sunday is kind of a nice way to end the weekend. Yesterday, I went to Cordeaux Dam with a roll of Fujifilm Acros I and some fresh batteries in the camera.

Bsky needs that thing where the thumbnail is not the first frame so that it doesn't look like I uploaded a black still image.

Anyway, here's some shots I grabbed on Ektar 100 with my Nikon N50.

Haven't shot Super 8 in a few years, but sometimes an idea hits and you just have to follow it all the way down... Please give a warm welcome to Deadeyes McRaw.

Had a great time at the @waypoint-events.com Pitch Night, but then had to race off and grab some reference shots for @samuni.bsky.social on CineStill 800T. Couldn't pass up the opportunity to take advantage of all the wet roads and paths.

Trying to capture the Three Sisters on Velvia 50 this afternoon... Due to a minor technical failure and stubborn user error, I suspect this roll won't turn out. But these shots down the viewfinder always look neat.
June 29, 2025 at 1:56 PM
This is up there as one of my favourite shots of the gravel loader, though I might still prefer the haunting vibe of it on a rainy day with BW film.

Anyway, more explorations with the Bronica Zenza. This time on Velvia 100, my new favourite colour reversal film.

This shot from the opening scene of The Rehearsal season 2 is perfect.
