But it makes perfect sense when you realise that the last time Germany had a strong military going on, they did the literal worst things. At the same time Finland was fighting a big bully to save our homes.
Then came the "end of history", no wonder everyone stopped thinking about military in Germany

These people are used to only think of politics a week or two before elections. Being actively involved is a foreign concept for them and it scares them.
