FWIW (not that I think you actually care) I think current 5e is the best, with no need to multiclass and divorcing species traits (ex Darkvision) from class critical attributes makes the game more fun.

Define “long time fans”, MFers. I played with the basic set and 1st printing AD&D books and I think it’s ALL great. The more playing, the merrier. It doesn’t get much more “long time fan” than me.

Also, until 5e the system basically advantaged killing as the means of getting XP, while you could go off that track it was less supported. So peaceful solutions were disadvantaged.
Now, with alternate milestone advancement all that matters is did you solve the problem?

That’s the dumbest statement I’ve read in several weeks, where dumb equals statement of the absurdly obvious. It’s IMPOSSIBLE until 2028 at the EARLIEST. It’s the equivalent of writing “Water is wet.”
