To me it looks like a tactical and symbolic success, I don’t understand how russia’s nuclear deterrence has practically eroded. It reminds me of russia’s argument that F16s are nuclear capable so giving them to Ukraine is a major escalation. Practically, does it move the nuclear lines on maps? [2/2]

Is there anything materially substantive in the nuclear hype? Is this an actual escalation? The bombers are oc part of the triad, but Russia has multiple redundant and unique delivery systems. Those bombers are used to attack Ukraine, but aren’t that critical for nuclear deterrence. [1/2]

If anything it may evolve into some sort of a paramilitary force. It is a border security agency, so a border guard with some territorial defense capabilities makes a lot of sense. A model similar to the Israeli border police force would work, without the recent fascistisation. Where to apply? 😉

Let’s hope it doesn’t work. The last thing we need here is another insane ideology, we have enough problems here

Hey @gametheory101.bsky.social, I shared some thoughts on the EU’s predictability and how putin & Trump exploit it to weaken the Union. Would you consider making a video analysing this - specifically, what tools Europe has and what it can and should do? Thread below.
1/ Only the EU could be surprised by the predictable behavior of others (putin, Trump) while being utterly predictable itself. They waste time accommodating Trump, thinking they can win him over with polite diplomacy. He couldn’t care less. He’s a disruptor, not a dealmaker.

Thank you for sharing!

I do realise that, I am referring to the third option suggested, of increasing cooperation without a joint force.
March 6, 2025 at 10:52 AM
6/6 This doesn’t resolve the core issue: joint command, control over enablers, and a unified logistics chain—none of which can exist without an overarching authority to enforce them. Without these, any force would remain fragmented and ineffective.

5/6 In my view, this force should function similarly to the Chinese Strategic Support Force - providing enablers and force multipliers that national militaries needlessly duplicate. However, while your proposal is similar, it remains subordinate to national authorities.
March 6, 2025 at 10:45 AM
4/6 National forces remain the backbone of both national and common defence, but for EU operations, they are subordinate to joint command and rely on shared enablers.

3/6 The proposal in the article below, if backed by a full mandate to defend EU territory, seems to address many shortcomings of the idealistic ‘EU army.’
Why It’s Time to Reconsider a European Army
Europe defending itself with separate militaries, without U.S. support, is neither logical nor practical. It is time to reconsider a common European army.

2/6 A federated Europe may be a prerequisite for expeditionary operations, but deterrence and the defence of EU territory are a different matter.
