Hardly anyone from rest of India know how crazy the geography of the East is. Added to that the Siliguri Corridor/Chicken’s Neck, if it is blocked or a major incident erupts over there, the East of India is totally cut off from ROI. It will also have huge impact on states like Bihar & Bengal.

Hardly anyone from rest of India know how crazy the geography of the East is. Added to that the Siliguri Corridor/Chicken’s Neck, if it is blocked or a major incident erupts over there, the East of India is totally cut off from ROI. It will also have huge impact on states like Bihar & Bengal.
A look on the map hardly gives one an idea about how easy it is for one to just walk into Bhutan and then to China. Or walk to Nepal and ultimately China. And vice-versa. No wonder it is so easy for people from Nepal, Bangladesh and also China to walk into India from the neighbouring countries.

In December, I took a road trip through the infamous Chicken’s Neck. It is very a very densely populated region with three States feeling the tension of the region - Bihar, West Bengal & Sikkim. If one is not mindful, you won’t recognize the unpredictability and vulnerability of the area.
