The Osprey: 6 foot wingspan; peak eyesight. Apex predator. They hunt by diving in feet first, having obtained a visual of the fish first. When they enter the water, they account for light refraction so as not to miss. One of evolution's most impressive survival skills.
It's #ospreyfriday. Here's one of my most favorite shots, taken while out kayaking at dusk. I observed this Osprey capture a fish & land on the branch of a craggy tree overlooking the impoundment to enjoy a twilight meal. Shagger's Inn, Moshannon State Forest, Pennsylvania, U.S. #ornithology #birds
