Checking. Tired. Thankfully SmeaGal and Pippin provide a reliable dose of Dopamine and Oxytocin.

(I just need Serotonin, so sleep and some walking.)

Schedule anxiety kept me awake in bed last night, leaving me literally weak today. Somehow that makes the metaphor of spiritual nourishment hit a bit harder than usual. (Also, yes, postpandemic our Church distributes the communion elements in hygenic packaging - a practice for which I am thankful.)

Didn't have many encounters with Rizal this year, save for previewing the Richard E. Grant voiced Noli Me Tangere audiobook. (Distracting accent, so no.) But Rizal is never not part of the background of Filipino life. Glad to celebrate Pepe's life and works today. Happy Rizal Day, folks.

The textile book (Araneta and Lim, 2014), meanwhile, is hefty, well photographed by Neal Oshima, and from the little I've seen, quite insightful.

Also a steal at p1,500.

The Ceramicware booklet (Tan,2016) is very specific to a particular collection but has enough general information to be acessible. And at p100, it was quite a steal.

We spent time today with a balikbayan friend and her fam. The activity of choice was a trip to Ayala museum.

Which means I HAD to check the shop for any inexpensive publications, buying them before they're all sold out in light of tiny publication runs.

Haul:
Textiles book=p1500;
Ceramics=p100.

This is SmeaGal. It's been a whole week since the scare that got her confined at the vet. She's doing much better. Except she's still barfing her meds. Sigh.

(But at least she IS clearly back to being her usual mischievous self.)

It's Christmastime in the Campus.

The ML books are home for the break, so I get to have off-the shelf references during the hols! :)

UP Clark students need to file a library request to transport thse titles from Diliman, which takes time. So I just loan these to the Lib. during the sem to make things easier.

I'm sleepy. And Inggit. Might join them for 15 minutes or so.

A visitor considers the names at the wall of remembrance of the #BantayogNgMgaBayani, which honors the Martyrs (killed or disappeares by the dictatorship) and Heroes (who passed away later) who fought for democracy during the Marcos regime (1965-1986).

Ongoing at the #BantayogNgMgaBayani, the Annual Honoring of Martyrs and Heroes.
November 30, 2024 at 3:35 AM
Interestingly, one of the #BantayogNgMgaBayani honorees this year is Commodore Ramon A. Alcaraz, PN (Ret.) - the highest ranking AFP officer to be honored there so far. (Boni Gillego was a Colonel before he was a congressman.) And he even has a Navy ship named after him.

If joining the Annual Honoring of Martyrs and Heroes tomorrow, Nov. 30 at 9AM at the #BantayogNgMgaBayani ,note that they will not be distributing bottled water.

Do bring your own drinking water containers. Purified water will be available via dispensers.

Yes, let’s reduce plastic pollution. :)

Baguio does not always feel like home. But it does this week.

Here's to blue skies (pun not intended, but take it as you will) and fair winds ahead.

Alrighty. Pesky introductions done.

Now, let me share something I look forward to every year:

the Annual Honoring of Martyrs and Heroes
at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani,
which usually happens on Nov 30.

Every new name helps paint a clearer story of OUR history as a people, circa 1965-1986.
