IMO the Jurassic World series has been a huge mess, but Chaos Theory is the best thing to come from it. Especially in terms of its characters. And while not perfect, its ending felt more emotionally satisfying than Dominion. It's been quite a ride with the Nublar Six, and I'll miss their adventures.

I knew the Moana remake was gonna look bad, but I never expected it to look *this* awful.

This shot alone is visual proof that this thing is a horrible idea (and also why some animated characters should *never* be translated into photo-realism.)

Brief shoutout to this awesome little channel I discovered recently! They’re doing an entire video series recreating the history of life on Earth…with plushies! They’re currently up to the early Permian.

Really neat and creative stuff. Definitely worth checking out!

Close-ups of the individual panels/floors.

Each level reads from bottom to top, left to right, and represents a different stage of Earth history. Can't remember why I never colored them (either I didn't want to after coloring the background or just ran out of time.)

"Deep Time Towers"
12x18, pen + watercolor. Spring 2018.

An ancient piece of mine, specifically a project for an illustration course I took back in art school. The assignment was to tell a sequential story in the frame of a building. This scan is my only surviving copy.

Been struggling (again) with productivity, so I decided to color that Zooble sketch I made a few weeks ago.

"Hunted By Moonlight" is a perfect paleomedia treat for Spook Season and my favorite of Dinosauria Vol. 2 so far. Its tone and atmosphere reminded me of Phil Tippett's Prehistoric Beast. The tension was nail-biting and it may have the coolest interpretation of Dilophosaurus ever.

Money’s been a bit tight lately, but I still managed to snag some real treats for my birthday.

Got a copy of the new @marabrownwd.bsky.social book (super excited to start reading that one!!), vol 1 of Osamu Tezuka’s Black Jack, and a Japanese book of dinosaur art by Ely Kish. Cool stuff!

I’m quite liking what I see here. The American mastodons, Arctodus and those little reptiles(?) look great. Only designs I’m iffy on are the Nanuqsaurus. Their arms look pronated and the head seems too allosaur-like.

Hope a trailer drops soon so we can get a better look at them.

Finally, a Thursday morning actually worth getting excited about.

RIP to Drew Struzan, an absolutely legendary artist.

He made some of my all-time favorite film posters, including the one for John Carpenter’s The Thing. Also genuinely love this one painting he did based on TLWJP. He and Noriyoshi Ohrai set the gold standard for film posters imo.

On this day, in 1905, the Prize Fighter of Antiquity, the Absolute Warlord of the Earth, the King Of The Dinosaurs, was revealed to the world.

Happy 120th anniversary to the one and only King of the Tyrant Lizards: Tyrannosaurus rex!
