Happy #WorldOtterDay! Today is their day, but to me it is otter day every day! I am grateful to know that sea otters are back from the brink after being hunted to near extinction during the fur trade. To learn more , read my book Sea Otters: A Survival Story. #seaotters #otters #ocean

My new doc SANDPIPERS' LAST SUPPER is now on the CBC's Nature of Things YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMo0...

The film tells the story of the western sandpiper’s long-distance migration powered by an invisible mud-based superfood that supports the species’ survival. #shorebirds #birdwatching

It was #WorldWhaleDay yesterday, and I am grateful that I can photograph humpbacks who have returned to the #salishsea after decimation by whaling.

Today humpbacks are faced with multiple threats: climate change, ship strikes, entanglements. I want a future that includes whales. #whales #ocean
