Like what business does the Haus der Kunst have calling anyone who walks by an alter kocker? 😆 i agree with David Zakalik that it comes across as demeaning - it's lacking exactly what institutional Germans still cannot understand about Jewish humour: that it makes FUN of authority, not embody it

So the Haus der Kunst decided that it would be a good idea to post a row of yiddish words in a stark, san serif font across a minimalist, oppressively designed structure designed by Nazi architect Paul Troost - is anyone surprised that people find this a BIT off-putting?

Except that some of you clearly haven’t seen it which is a serious offense so it requires your full attention. If so pour yourself some apple cider and SIT DOWN

(Ik this evil doofus "apologized" for his comment, but the fact that he thought to say it at all is evidence of what he really believes. Plus, our country's ever-worsening policies already are "euthanizing" the homeless, just slowly and more painfully. anyway here's him and Vladdy together)

Kinda crazy that Vlad the Impaler was so much worse irl than Dracula himself? And yet he was beloved by the pope :) and some said "well it's better to have him than...'crime'"

Fun fact about the real life Dracula, Vlad the Impaler. One time, he invited all the poor, sick, and homeless under his rule to a lavish feast. He then boarded up the doors and lit the room on fire, burning them all to death. When met with outrage, he simply said: "No one will be poor in my realm."

These are just a few of many breads and plaster models of ritual bread I photographed in Bulgaria!

Guinness Book of World Records has Bulgaria as one of the top 4 countries in bread eaten per capita - just behind Turkey (who quite likely got bread from the Bulgarians), Serbia, and Montenegro (all in the same geographic region.) Can any historians tell me why? & why it’s so crucial to the culture?

It appears that there’s a spot on Google maps in Burgas, Bulgaria that is titled, “The Cormorant,” but is in fact, just a log that a cormorant sometimes hangs out on. It gets 5 stars🥲

They don’t allow cameras in Cowtown, the oldest weekly rodeo in the United States - which happens to be in New Jersey, just an hour away from my home in Philly. So I tried my best to capture some of the excitement on my iPhone 🐎

Cowtown Rodeo (the oldest rodeo in America in Salem County, New Jersey) is a machine affair with men riding bulls and bucking broncos. Even the announcer seemed to admit that by far the most talented and fearless performer was this woman riding 4 horses, bareback and barefoot, through rings of fire

One of these pictures is "Alligator Alcatraz." The other is a data center north of Castroville, Texas. Can you tell which one is which?

And better yet, why they look...almost identical?

Any former Midwesterners know this image, of a trunk laden with 100 pounds of New Glarus beer on the way back home

Happy fiancé ✅
