With the #chi2026 reviews coming out, I am posting my regular reminder to folks who do qualitative research. I have been curating a document with common critiques of qual research and how to respond. Check it out and add your own examples!

The President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, PPFP, has been a jewel in the crown for faculty development and recruitment at the University of California for years and the results have been an expanded faculty with almost 100% tenure rates — unprecedented success.

You never know what a small #HCI research project might grow into. Interviews with blind older adults about smartphones for a disability org webinar turned into a #DIS2023 poster 🖼️, Smartphone Stories, and later a theory paper 📄, Intersecting Liminality, at #ASSETS2024!

We lost funding for our outreach that supports disabled students in pursuing STEM in college. We're running a fundraiser to keep our work and community partnerships going. We are grateful for your support!

Hi! I'm an Informatics PhD student at UC Irvine! My research is about accessibility, HCI, and CS Ed, and I'm interested in tech use during life transition. Currently, my work is focused on supporting blind students in accessing their STEM studies during the high school to college transition.

Learning to use a smartphone as a blind person isn’t just tech adoption. It’s a life transition.

In our #ASSETS2024 paper, Intersecting Liminality, we explored how processes of aging, vision loss, and technology learning overlap.
