Don’t talk to me, my son, or my son’s son again.

It’s actually kind of wild just how much smaller the new Mac mini is than the 2018 model 😳

(10/15) So, let's talk about the apps. Once again, the G1s nail this and the Meta's fumble it 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥. Even Realities app is fast, and promotes all the glasses function to the front. Meta's app is kinda trash, and promotes non-dismissable tutorial content on the homepage instead of actual features.

For the last four months or so I have been using smart glasses almost daily, and I thought I'd spend some time reviewing/talking about the two that I have used: the RayBan Metas and the Even Realities G1 😎

Spoiler alert: I really like the G1s. Time for a long-form thread! (1/15) 🧵👇

I thought I was done, but the Great Work™ is not finished. I have grand plans for Threaditor (and maybe a new thing 👀) this year, and I'm feeling refreshed and ready to keep working.

I’ll be sharing more as I go, but I’m very excited! 😄🧵

It's very cool to see Americans giving long form media like Red Notice a go now that TikTok is banned 😊

If I had a penny for every pair of smart glasses I owned, I'd have two pennies.

Which isn't many, but I think it makes me a nerd that I have two pairs.

I know I said like a day ago I wasn't going to make any more changes to Threaditor, but I got sick of running out of image storage.

Free: 5 MB → 10 MB (2x)
Plus: 50 MB → 500 MB (10x)

Available now for everyone 🤣

Part of the reason I've been stepping away from Threads more recently is because dis- and mis-information is rampant at the moment, and the platform facilitates it in its design.

Take this post for example. This is an opinion based on incorrect info (expanded on in their replies) (1/3)

Did some icon experiments for a little Mac diff checker app 😃 I’m really happy with the second one especially, its heavily inspired by the XCode app icon.

I'd love to see Threads and Bluesky adopt a “Made using” label, similar to Mastodon’s.

It was a neat feature when Twitter had it years ago, but now that genAI can publish infinite garbage, we need to know to know where posts are coming from.

A few weeks ago I impulse bought a record player… and so far it's been a lot of fun 😃 I know it's fully a cliché gen Z thing to do, but I don't care.

My partner and I often listen to full albums, and enjoy that this is something we can now do together 😌

I've been playing around with WinUI to make a native Windows version of Filedrop 😃

The really limited scope of this little project makes it a fantastic candidate for learning native development on various platforms. One day I want native versions for each platform 😎

This is Filedrop 2, a little app of mine built to make transferring files between any two devices much easier 😃

The process is simple: upload the files you want to share, then use the QR code or 6-digit code at filedrop.isaacshea.com to download those files.

Available now for free!

I'm sorry Bluesky but I cannot follow anyone else. The Funny Number™️ requires it.

Observation: Threads and Bluesky are very different in terms of engagement, as made clear (imo) by the engagement with the brand accounts.

It seems that, even if Threads has more users, it's much worse at organising people around central topics.

Coming soon to @threaditor.net version 9: you can now create embeds that don't count towards your character limit on Bluesky and Threads!

A game changer for people linking to news articles and external websites 😄 #BuildInPublic #webdev

More updates on Filedrop 2: the complete upload/download flow is done, and this is what it will look like 😃
November 10, 2024 at 3:37 AM
Today's work on Filedrop 2 has been building out the upload flow, which you can see here. A big improvement that this version has over the previous is that it actually uploads files in parallel 😅, allowing for much faster upload times on large drops.
