Within every startup ecosystem there exists a class of company that:
- is extremely well-funded by non-specialist VCs
- gets a ton of press and meetings with high profile non-specialists (politicians and dignitaries)
- everyone in the ecosystem knows it is AT BEST a dud and AT WORST a total scam
