Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

Money put intelligently on education is the best and major investment that Latin American nations (and all nations) can achieve.
The eight countries that spent most on defense: Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador and Uruguay sum up more than 55 billion dollars…

I am currently re reading Don Quijote.
This is the first chapter and as you can see more than half of the page are footnotes.
This happens in many parts of the book. They are a pain in the a** for those who read the book the first time.
This is the RAE edition of the 4th centenary — 2005.

8:59 PM in Montevideo, Uruguay while I’m writing this. Just ended Children of Time by @aptshadow.bsky.social. I bought the book on Friday and absolutely submerged in the novel all weekend till this time.
I was able to buy it in English, I may order tomorrow Children of Ruin and Children of Memory.

When Einstein came to Montevideo in 1925 (he was leaving Buenos Aires and decided just on the moment to stop in the other big city of the river plate) he fell in love with the city.
I don’t like to say that he hated Buenos Aires but he didn’t like it because it was too big…

I still can’t process that Uruguay, current FIFA U20 World Cup champions, won’t play next September the World Cup in Chile.
I really wanted to be two times in a row champions, we have a lot to catch up. Brazil has 4 and Argentina 6.

Uruguay has an open border policy and in the last 15 years nearly 40 thousand Cubans and Venezuelans have arrived to make the jobs that Uruguayans won’t do (clean dishes, houses, care for the elders, and so on).
I won’t talk about republicans or democrats, Trump or Biden…

I think that Uruguay should become a bilingual country.
For too much time we have neglected those who speak Portuguese (1 million of the 3.5 million people that live in this country).
As a bilingual country we will have a stronger bond with Brazil. The Argentinian one is there and will always be.

I’m relieved to have the ability of read those whom I chose to follow easily.
Those who proclaim respect towards free speech should know that there is no such thing as monetizing free speech.
Free speech is just that, free. And it is in everyone reasoning capabilities to choose who to read or not.

First post in this, first account, social network.
Shamefully it is not possible to continue in the other one.
I find here the best features of old Twitter and I hope it grows in users and changes little.
I will be writing both in English and Spanish, being the latter my native language.
