Reading a criminology paper for the 1st time since working briefly (very briefly) as a criminology editor, the highlight being a breakfast meeting with Blumstein & Farrington at the St. Francis in SF to discuss new books. Weeks later, the plug was pulled & I moved to chemistry.

This Nashville corner has become much safer since all the pedestrian lights were synchronized and no cars turn left in your back toward you while crossing. Except when a car jumps the curb, wham.

The Free Press, as in: the conservative book publisher in Manhattan, stopped in 2012. Which, I suppose, freed up the name 'The Free Press' now better known as Bari Weiss's novel creation.

The frisson of stepping into the Nashville Symphony after walking through the crowds and cover rock bands' decibels and ... diversity from the bus stop through lower Broadway. In this building every seat is good, you might as well go for the cheaper seats.

Earlier I was flabbergasted that residents got killed and maimed by cars on narrowish 3rd Avenue N in Nashville with all the new "luxury" housing plus a greenway.

View from my Berlin hotel window. There's only one event I'd be interested in today but it's sold out. Nevermind, I'll just continue with lake swimming, a mere 10-minute walk away from my extremely comfy luxe (but reasonably priced) room with enough space to keep sorting papers.
