And Emma’s interview truly framed JKR in that light, as a positive role model who she loved and respected as a child, but who is now going down a path where Emma won’t follow. She was so gracious and loving, while JKR’s response is nothing but vitriolic cruelty.

My melanoma scar is the reason I’m alive and I will never, ever, regret that surgery.

I don’t even know how to process any of that. It’s too much.

Oh, this looks like it’s going to be a good one! Can’t wait to get off work so I can watch!

It’s never been particularly easy to get traditionally published, but it feels like there’s been a big increase in the number of people who want to be authors, so the people submitting to agents and publishers have more competition than ever before.

Whedon has said he got the idea for the show while reading Killer Angels, a historical fiction that was sympathetic to the confederacy. The show was basically “what if civil war, but in space?”

To remind people that they don’t have to subject themselves to things that make them angry.

I’m just wondering why you would continue to subject yourself to posts you don’t like that make you upset, when there are other options.

It’s SUCH a good letter.

In the hands of a lesser author, Mary Musgrove could be absolutely awful. But Austen writes her as still somewhat sympathetic for all her self centered neuroses, and I kind of love that.

Persuasion is my favorite! I love a good second chance romance, and Wentworth’s letter to Anne is a thing of beauty. And the secondary characters are I think some of Austen’s best.

This is my district, and I’m thrilled with Grijalva. She’s done great work in local politics and I have every confidence she’ll represent us well. If anything, she’s more like Mamdani than Foxx is, because they’re both local politicians finding broader success because of their policies.

I used to be a librarian in Arizona and we’d have people come in during the summer asking for trail maps like “we’re visiting from Ohio and we want to see your beautiful desert up close!” And every time I’d do my level best to scare them badly enough not to go hiking in over 110 degrees.

I liked Brandon Routh as Superman, but you’re right,I definitely wouldn’t categorize that movie as fun.
