“Reason is the natural order of truth; but imagination is the organ of meaning” - C.S. Lewis
Human rights and egalitarian beliefs tend to be hallmarks for that system. Sorry if I’m off base. Not looking to change your ideology. Just nitpicking your terminology a bit. 😁

Not saying that. On the ideology side, it’s pretty common today to conflate Marxism, socialism, social democracy, democratic socialism, etc. You don’t seem to be advocating for gov’t ownership of companies, so it seems like you lean more toward social democracy as you’d see in Sweden for example.

I think you mean racists. White people aren’t the problem. Racists are the problem.

I like your overall sentiment, but have some problems with your usage of terms. Not that you need my permission to use terms, but it’s easy to create misunderstandings when you throw around a term like “socialism” in a context wholly unrelated to what socialism is defined as.

If you’re so inclined, check out James 2:14-26, b/c you’re absolutely right. The Bible says as much. What people do is evidence of faith, or lack thereof.

Fair point. A lot of us suck at that.

And I’d be happy to explain that in a different forum.

I’d like to respect this thread and not continue a debate in their comments.

Suffice it to say that you’re presuming the reasons someone would maliciously co-opt a belief system are dependent on religious beliefs specifically.

If you’d like to continue, you can message or tag me in a post.

Are you implying that there are no atheists who misuse scientific fact to deliberately manipulate people and gain influence?
November 30, 2024 at 10:54 AM
The root of the problem isn’t that they exerted influence. It’s why they did so. Evangelicals are at the heart of a 60 year old Republican strategy designed to manipulate and mobilize them. It’s going to take a concerted vision to counteract that.

Not to mansplain, but I feel it’s important to understand the church history context there. Ephesus was the home of the cult of Artemis, which targeted women. So false teachings were being spread by women there specifically. It was a prescription for that specific church, not all Christianity.
