Crafting stash to the rescue!

The throw pillows I got from Ikea are too squishy to provide adequate support as backrests on the daybed. I was able to grab my stash of assorted fabrics (thanks, Covid mask-making!) and quilt batting to add floof and structure. (Alt texts for details) #fabric #stash
Quick quilting batting between two layers of fabric. This fabric has multicolored cats, but I’m using anything from my stash that’s big enough. Working straight lines horizontally and vertically on the pieces, spaced roughly 4-5 inches apart. After sewing two quilted panels together around three sides, clipping the corners, and turning it so the seam allowances are inside, insert the pillow form. The multicolored cats are quilted to beige fabric with cats and paw prints. But it doesn’t matter! Nobody will see it! Insert the now poofier pillow form into the outer cover. This is a 26” pillow and a gray cover. Stack of throw pillows on a hardwood floor. Two pillows are gray, one is yellow. One large pillow down, two more to go. Plus two more 20” pillows and two rectangles.

We have been updating our tv/home theater space, from a 15+ year old tv that only 75% worked (half the screen was fuzzy), to smart tv with assorted players, amps, and 7.1 channel surround sound.

Getting ahead with my sign for protests this weekend.

I was going to use red for “fascist,” in a classic color combo. And then I realized that the T at the end was perfect for a minimalist Dementia Don, and that meant I needed to use orange.

Tropical inspired set: Citrus Splash, Perfection, Bean Stalk, Fierce and Fabulous, Shadows in the Trees, Nacho Cheese Three knitted swatches and three small skeins of yarn on a white background. The colors are Citrus Splash, a coral-orange; Perfection, teal green; Bean Stalk, bright spring green; Fierce and Fabulous, a red with orange undertones; Shadows in the Trees, a dark pine green; and Nacho Cheese, a light yellow-orange. Severed Lobby set: It’s Cold Outside, Lucky Charm, Dirty Truce, All the Way to the Bank, Bare Necessities, and London Fog. Six small knitted swatches spread out in a fan. I’ve got my sign ready for Saturday. Finally, an appropriate use for Comic Sans.

As much as I love Worldwide Knit in Public Day, and heaven knows I knit in public all the time, the #NoKings peaceful protests take precedence this year.

Colors and yardages are as follows: Color 1: It's Cold Outside (blue), 70 yards Color 2: Lucky Charm (green), 187 yards Color 3: Dirty Truce (bile green), 200 yards Color 4: All The Way to the Bank (teal green), 53 yards Color 5: Bare Necessities (off white), 388 yards Color 6: London Fog (medium gray), 173 yards Please enjoy all colors equally. Shawl is worked from the center out (innie to outie) and therefore requires a long circular needle: US5 (3.75 mm) 60" long. The first 2 sections are most easily worked using the Magic Loop technique, until the stitch counts fill out and make it easier to turn corners. See alt on second pic for continuation. Testers will receive the pattern this week (May 13-17) and will have until the end of June to complete knitting. I'm mostly looking for confirmation that my pattern is written in such a way that it makes sense. Testers will not be required to post pics on social media/Ravelry, though I do appreciate that. Communication will be via Discord. I will send codes for a free pattern from my Ravelry pattern shop as a thank you.
