On a basic level just taking the issue of access journalism itself I don’t think nearly enough journalists themselves really condemn it. Much like how amongst their world you would think it would be way more broadly considered an outrage that Nuzzi got the VH gig after doing what she did.

Very similar in that each case the industry/institution itself is aggressively dismissive of calls for accountability or broader reckoning.

The situation is quite obviously representative of our media though who largely defended Nuzzi when it came out she committed one of the biggest ethical transgressions one could commit and was hired by Vanity Fair afterwards. It deserves discussion and reckoning because the implications are broad.

Yeah, at this point it's really obvious that most of the core US media elite (1) doesn't think this is that bad and (2) is really stoked as to how much content Nuzzi is generating and that's *really* damning.

A left nimby who stayed on twitter is just gonna have a wildly skewed perception of events. People call Bluesky a bubble but libs and lefties who are still there are in something of an insular space tend to double down on things they got wrong.
