No drilling and dashing on my dime! All in 🇨🇦 want a safe environment and are sick of the ways we subsidize the richest so that they collect more wealth for themselves. Have your say here →https://nwmd.social/s/copylink/4A-EaUyLeuDGy7KFmu0=/b #ableg @naheednenshi.bsky.social

#genocide brings suffering and erodes our collective humanity no matter how distant we think we are.

Don't assume that 🇨🇦's independence from major US markets is a bad thing. Local solutions are often connected with more clean air and water, health, and altogether less costly. The choices belong to us. #cdnpoli @catherinecullen.bsky.social @markusoff.bsky.social @anthropocenempg.bsky.social

Where there is confusion, inconsistency, power differential--eg cultural popularity, winner status, being part of a gang/group/team/club, physical strength, and presence/absence of clothing, consent is questionable if not absent. Judges rule on legal process not consent. @ianhanomansing.bsky.social

Don't think about cutting down this tree! Calgary's canopy is worth $6.9 billion and an additional $2.5 billion in service! @calgaryclimatehub.ca @naheednenshi.bsky.social @cape-ab.bsky.social This one could equate to 4 A/Cs running full time!

Why #yyccc #ableg needs to be more aware of water and "climate emergency." @naheednenshi.bsky.social @drluannemetz.bsky.social Think about what is in water when erosion pulls plants & pesticides into rivers and low reservoirs. @cape-ab.bsky.social @anthropocenempg.bsky.social

Right on. Here's the current picture trees. #yyccc a laggard. We are NOT the best city. Every time I hear that, I'm embarrassed.

Well, well. Calgary's tree coverage is 8.25%. Ottawa's is 46%, Halifax, 43%, Toronto 28% and aiming for 40%. @cityofcalgarygolf.bsky.social states it aims to double to 16%.

Calgary aims for 16% tree coverage. But "A modelling study last year suggested that increasing city tree cover to 30%, from a European city average of around 14%, could have cut deaths attributable to heat by a third." @calgaryclimatehub.ca www.weforum.org/stories/2024...

We collectively request that the 'Alberta's COVID-19 Pandemic Response' report … be officially dismissed for use as a source of information for both public and provincial policy, as it inaccurately reflects the body of scientific evidence," the letter states.
