I read a lot. Sometimes I try to write. I crochet eldritch horrors. I've tried many crafts and art types and enthusiastically suck at most of them. Brit in the US. ¿Mature? Engineering student. Museum geek.
Trying to deal with the stress of a university assignment by making origami dragons is healthy, right?

I honestly think the butterfly was harder to make, except for the bit where I lost one of the components of the other and was wondering why it didn't all fit together properly...

I like the contrasts in this - to me it feels like the woods are on their way to attack the buildings, and they are going to win. Puts me in mind of the scottish play. I took it a couple of years ago at a light show (hence the strange reds and blues). The moon was full and the aesthetic appealed.

I have been making origami winged hearts and origami cranes for years. I decided to increase my repetoir, so here are my first attempts at modular origami.

Maybe *these* will be the journals that finally cause me to be organised and productive?

(At least they're pretty...)

Halloween neans not actually having to get dressed...

11, because I realised I missed two from my original count...

Working with @brunelmuseum.bsky.social has me paying attention to engineering exhibits, but I blame
@museumbums.bsky.social for the attention I now pay to some of the statuary. This is from the @metmuseum.org in the British area (Landsdowne House)

It's taken a while this time, but every partner eventually learns that sometimes I need to be cut off from my Redbull supply...

It's always a good time for a squirrel picture, right?

Giant ice fork!
(No really, that's all I have to say. I just thought this icicle shaped like a (broken) fork was pretty cool.)

I think the squirrel above really makes this picture. It looks like it, too, may pounce!

Two sparrows, no reflections. I don't know what was happening in that direction, I was distracted by the sparrows...

Why do real-life butterflies sometimes look badly drawn?
January 30, 2025 at 12:28 AM
I'm not sure what it is about this, but *something* in how everything lined up called to me. Do you ever find yourself taking random pictures of things that you're pretty sure no-one other than you will ever see the appeal of?

They really are, you know. I should not be allowed to shop unsupervised. Then again, after the "bright blue pasta incident" there are folks who think I shouldn't be allowed to cook unsupervised either...

Pic from a few months ago: Squirrel very curious about what's in the hole in the rock, and completely unperturbed by my presence.

Jersey looks amazing this afternoon/evening. Or it looks on fire...

I'm really enjoying having a multi-media sketchbook small enough to carry around easily. It fits in a small makeup bag with my travel watercolours, some pens and pencils, and a couple of line-drawing tools.

I'm quite pleased with how my new Snag tights combine with my thigh tattoo. I wasn't hugely excited about their advent tights except these ones, which I adore.

So, it turns out some of the random sculpture in NYC is unexpectedly kinetic. How cool is that?!

I enjoyed this doodle, and got to use the lovely new crayons from my inlaws. I would be writing more, but I *need* to use specifically my green notebook for writing, and I managed to leave that in NJ 🤦‍♀️

(Any guidance on how to improve my alt-text for abstract images would be appreciated)
