Kinuya Tanaka is a critical figure in general, and her directorial career is arguably the most important aspect of her career, and this is what she gets?? It's criminal.

One of the earliest Japanese film books I got was Mark Schilling's "No Borders, No Limits: Nikkatsu Action Cinema"! Always great to hear what he has to say.

From 1963 onwards, she began appearing in films less frequently, but still played occasional roles in films and on TV until 1995. She made her final in-person appearance as a guest at a retrospective for fellow Toei star Kinnosuke Nakamura in June 2009. Chihara passed away on November 22nd, 2009.
