I was not expecting Labour to transfer so heavily to Independent Ireland. What the hell happened there.

Cork South West: @SouthernStarIRL reporting that Michael Collins and Holly Cairns are at an even split in boxes in Bantry. For context, the Bantry result in 2020 was Collins 51%, Cairns 14%.

An interesting tidbit here.

According to an exit poll, people who voted for SD were the only voters where a majority decided to vote SD during the campaign rather than before.

Housing and cost of living being major issues for all age groups but the older age groups still vote overwhelmingly for FFG.

Please vote. The gap in voter turnout between younger people and older people in Ireland is one of the largest in Europe.

Fine Gael’s climate action plan The Claim: Simon Harris claimed that environmental group Friends of the Earth rated the climate proposals in his party’s manifesto better than Fianna Fáil’s or Sinn Féin’s. The facts: Although Harris’ claim is technically true, the academic evaluation by Friends of the Earth rated all three parties’ proposals with an E grade: Fine Gael scored 38%, compared to Sinn Féin’s 33% and Fianna Fáil’s 30%. Ringfenced carbon tax money The Claim: Mary Lou McDonald claimed that 40% of the funds raised from the carbon tax, which were supposed to be ring-fenced for climate action measures, could not be accounted for. It said that only 61% of funds from carbon taxes have been put towards the “ring-fenced” schemes to improve the environment that they were intended for.

I still don't understand why Social Democrats didn't run more candidates. PBP, Labour, Aontú, and even Independent Ireland are running more than them. I think we'd be seeing very different results on Friday if they ran more.

I didn't know the percentage of undecided voters was that high.

The issue of house prices being at 18% but the cost of rents being 6% seems odd. Climate only at 5% is disappointing.
