Every time I see the name Halligan I think of Brett Halligan the protagonist of "The Mystery of the Druids," and this is absolutely something Brett would do. At one point he knocks a homeless man out via a drink spiked with medicinal alcohol so he can steal his change and make a phone call.

Apparently it was just announcing deals to lower drug prices something every admin negotiates on but doesn't do press conferences in the oval office about.

This isn't even the first time this has happened. These things are clearly too long. There isn't even any point to them half the time, just Trump wanting to be part of the press conference and also demanding as many officials as possible are also there.

I don't want to call this person out because they're not entirely wrong, but I think what this misses was that right after 9/11 the political culture were in fact scared shitless that 9/11 was going to happen again and again. It wasn't about civility that made people support WOT, it was fear.

It's very hard to square this Ezra Klien opinion with his other opinion that Democrats need to be going out to evangelical churches and trying to "own" the parishioners and post it to social media.
