Most popular costumes in my neighborhood were variations of “6-7” and Kpop demon hunters (?). I almost cried when I saw a kid dressed as a good ol’ classic pirate with a gray plastic sword.

Let Emma Watson serve as an example that radical empathy is not the morally superior absolution it is framed to be. You cannot empathize with hate. You are allowed to have complicated feelings when reconciling who you thought someone was vs who they really are, but it is a choice to love them anyway
