BioShock (the first one). I just couldn't get past the item scarcity. It was like the developers insisted on making the game harder than it needed to be. However, BioShock Infinite is one of my all-time favorites, in part because they ditched the item scarcity and just made the game fun to play.

I think it's looking fantastic. My only question is: Where are the remasters of Echoes and Corruption?

And when they got to the point where they were utilizing the hardware to its fullest potential, we had Halo 2 -- an OG Xbox game that looked almost like a next-gen title.

If more stories of that type tend to be written about widowers, then I imagine it's because it tends to be a very effective backdrop for a story. Just ask the people who wrote Silent Hill 2 and its highly acclaimed 2024 remake.

I can take or leave the mecha and varied combat styles, but I'm totally on board with everything else. I've got my copy coming to me hopefully on Thursday. I pre-ordered the Best Buy one that comes with a mini metal poster and an acrylic stand.

Part II was a train wreck story-wise, so dropping Part III would probably be the right call.

My choice is Kentucky Route Zero even though I wouldn't consider it a horror game as a whole. There are sequences in it that really ratchet up the creep factor in the way that an exceptionally creepy episode of The Twilight Zone might.

I said that socialism takes away from the spirit that's expressed in the comic, not that it eliminates it entirely.

Not sure what that has to do with my comment, but okay.

I'm not saying capitalism is perfect. Far from it. But socialism takes away from the spirit that's expressed in this comic. Charitable giving is very different from forced contribution.

Come on now. We're over four years into this console generation. The Xbox One and PS4 should've been dropped from AAA game consideration at least a year ago, if not two.

It should be $60 for a Complete Edition with all DLC. The notion that this has a Premium Edition for $100 is ludicrous. This is a 2021 game.

Silent Hill 3. I played the PC version back in the day. It was a fascinating follow-up to the first Silent Hill, and it nailed the atmosphere right from the start.

When I first saw the news, I had to double-check it to make sure it wasn't a hoax. 39 is incredibly young for someone to have the kind of health issues she was having. And it's just so sad that not only did she die so young, but she died alone in her apartment. RIP

I still remember how amazing the Resident Evil remake was back in the day. The backdrops had no business looking that realistic on the humble GameCube.

I never owned a Wii, but I have to give Nintendo props for trying something that was way outside the box at the time. And it was so wildly successful that both Sony and Microsoft tried to copy it in their own ways (Move and Kinect).

Solid list. I'm pleasantly surprised at your inclusion of Rygar. It's a largely-forgotten classic.

The only game I would add is Faxanadu. In my opinion, it was way ahead of its time. It was almost like playing Skyrim as side-scroller on NES.

I think there's a cleanness to their visuals that most modern games with all of their rough textures are lacking.

Based on my experience with the remaster of the first Mass Effect (which has a similarly clean visual style), I think Dreamcast games would look amazing if they were remastered in 4K.

The Super Famicom design is undeniably sleek, but there's just something about the North American SNES design that gives it more personality.

I almost want to say ActRaiser, but I doubt I could handle the insane late-game difficulty as well as I did when I was 11.

I was 16 when I played Final Fantasy VII, but it might be a stretch to call that my childhood.

My choice is Super Castlevania IV for its timeless gameplay and excellent music.

I never owned Wave Race 64, but I was still impressed with it. It had the most water-like water I had ever seen in a video game.

It's been so long ago that it's hard to remember, but I think I first played Star Fox at a special preview kiosk at Six Flags Over Texas. And yep, I was blown away too. The notion that the SNES could deliver a 3D experience like that was amazing.

Mega Drive isn't an awful name, but "Drive" being the focus sounds ridiculous to me. It would be like calling the PS3 the Super Blu-ray or the PS5 the Ultra SSD.

Besides that, did the Mega Drive even HAVE a drive so that the name would make sense? (In fairness, Genesis doesn't make sense either.)

I doubt we have inflation numbers for this month. He's likely talking about last month's inflation, which would be mostly attributed to Biden.
