Response from a male colleague of mine years ago when I related to him I felt I was going to fly under the radar for ADHD...

That has rubbed me the wrong way ever since.
Social media post: ADHD and Autism in women/girls tends to be overlooked until later in life. -- ADHD women weren't diagnosed late. We were ignored early, dismissed often, and misunderstood for decades.

The constant misuse (and of other specific psychological terms) drives this survivor batty. We are already dismissed way too often. The rampant misuse erases all that and dilutes our experiences. #trauma
A message about accurately using the term "triggered" and a note from crazyheadcomics. Black text on neon green: Stop using the word "triggered" when you really mean "offended" a psychological trigger is experienced by people who are traumatized. it’s a stimuli that triggers feelings of trauma, causing the person to experience feelings of sadness, panic, fear, or anxiety. it is NOT synonymous with being angry or offended. so please stop saying you are “triggered” when you’re just mad. it diminishes trauma survivors who experience triggers, and minimizes their symptoms. crazyheadcomics

They aren’t looking for an actual understanding, they are looking for a reason to dismiss the critique so they can rid of that dissonance that they feel. Post 2 or the thread: Whatever “solution” they are offered will be easily dismissed because they haven’t fully engaged with critique as to the source of the problem. And they don’t want to engage with the critique because it makes them feel bad.

Autumn's here, and I'm here for it...
