In Norman Finkelstein's case (and not many others, his style is unique) I think the parsimonious explanation is that he gets a thrill out of making certain categories of critics angry, and one such category is “Jews who aren't him”

I am still 100% convinced when he hears immigrants are seeking asylum he does not realize there are multiple meanings and is imagining releasing hispanic inmates from arkham asylum and nothing will convince me otherwise

The problem from their point of view is that rapid decarbonization requires public, collective decisions about the organization of production, in a way that threaten capital-owners' authority over both the production process and the political system.
