I never did - just part of the background. But my daughter points them out every time. “Dad, look at the little bird! Aww! I want it!” You’d think she’s three but she’s a preteen.

Crocheting is very relaxing. Well, not while you’re learning, then it’s awful. But after that is nice.

My kid gets panic attacks pretty regularly and will call me from college to help deal with them and this is my go to. Sometimes I have to get specific: “can you feel the chair against your back and legs? Etc. now we’re going to breathe…” it really helps them.

I was a terrible nail biter until I was 35. The thing that finally helped? Carrying nail clippers. I still nibble a nail while driving or a suspenseful book, but otherwise I’m cured. I can clip the offending snag instead of chewing.

Lately when I get mired in thoughts about how weird I used to be, I’ll stop and yell, “I’m not Josie Grossey anymore!” I’m surprised at how much it helps.
