Just tried to login to Lyft to look at some receipts. Had to go grab the code that they texted me and then agree to a new TOS only to be greeted with this. Why allow logins on the web at all then???

Finally got my recipe for Phnom Pehn's butter beef down and I'm so happy. 🍽️
Plate of butter beef - raw thinly sliced raw beef dressed with a soy vinaigrette, cilantro, and fried shallots and garlic. Two chopsticks are balanced in the plate. An empty bowl with a small amount of sauce at the bottom sits to the left side with two spoons stacked in it.

Yes! Success! 2 weeks babying a starter in my cold house was worth it. 🍽️

I fed the starter with a mix of rye and AP and the result tastes almost exactly like the $8 loaf of Italian pugilese from my local artisan bakery.
A round, crusty boule of freshly baked sourdough bread. Same boule of bread, sliced. You can see that it's nice and airy, not super dense and gummy. A success for a first loaf! A second boule of sourdough bread, shot from above. It has some decorative slices cut into it and a nice expanded "ear".

I've been thinking a lot a comment I heard from Maria Ressa, a journalist in the Philippines during the rise and fall of Duterte, for which social media was used / weaponized. It was on a podcast, but this quote is the gist:

Okay .. But I'm curious at the intent. Is this hairstyle the "miss frizzle" (scientist hippy)? The bride of Frankenstein (consequences of man who plays God)? The alien cranium (whoah look at that guys head! Long!)?

Bingeing Wagner on the radio hasn't distracted me as much as it used to, especially with all the pro-Chancellor Hitler undertones. I've been trying out mindfulness lately, but that hasn't helped. I even went outside just to feel the wind in my hair, but something about the vibe is just off. I'm trying to focus on what I can control -the only constant is change.
