There’s only one small photo, but it’s not every day I come across news of a quilt exhibit in #lagos to share here and this one does seem particularly interesting. I hope more on the exhibit book becomes available closer to its publication date […]

We went to #NoKings with my mother-in-law. Her father was in a Nazi prison camp as a resister, & survived. She & her husband escaped Czechoslovakia in the 1960s, traveled by ship from Germany to NY as refugees. Arrived in NY harbor in the morning fog, which lifted to reveal, the Statue of Liberty. 🇺🇸

The most conflict I saw at the Denver #NoKings protest was when a group chanting "Hey hey ho ho" turned a corner into a group chanting "Whose streets?" and people weren't sure which chant to continue with.

One protest down. On to the next one.
My sign elicited a variety of responses. Some were confused. Some were ashamed. Some were offended. Some were supportive and agreeable. So be it. We live in a country with a messy history and currently our "leaders" are making it messier. #nokings

I walked the route tall and quietly, sometimes clapping along with the chants. I didn't chant along, this time. The energy was high but more subdued than my past marches of 2025, and shared across many more people.

The February march in support of congestion […]

Wasn't able to take a lot of photos of the #ranchobernardo protest in #sandiego today, but there were easily 1.5x-2x as many people as I've ever seen at this location before

Turn **Row 2:** sel s, [p1, k1] – repeat till the end, p1, sel s. Turn. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the ribbing measures 5 cm. Switch to larger knitting needles or continue working with the same size. The main part of the hat is knitted in garter stitch. **Next Row:** sel s, knit all stitches, sel s. Repeat this row until the main part (after the ribbing) measures 9-10 cm. ### **Shaping frog hat’s crown:** The next step is to join the knitting in the round. To do this, slip the last stitch from the right-hand needle to the left-hand needle and then knit the first and last stitches together (k2tog). You should now have 96 stitches on the needles. Place a stitch marker before the knitted stitch to mark the beginning of the round. Divide the 96 stitches by 6, which gives you 16 stitches per section. Place a stitch marker every 16 stitches to divide the round into 6 sections. **Round 1:** [k14, k2tog] – repeat 6 times. (90 sts) **Round 2:** purl all stitches around. **Round 3:** [ k2tog, k13] – repeat 6 times. (84 sts) **Round 4:** purl all stitches around. **Round 5:** [k12, k2tog] – repeat 6 times. (78 sts) **Round 6:** purl all stitches around. **Round 7:** [ k2tog, k11] – repeat 6 times. (72 sts) **Round 8:** purl all stitches around. **Round 9:** [k10, k2tog] – repeat 6 times. (66 sts) **Round 10:** purl all stitches around. **Round 11:** [ k2tog, k9] – repeat 6 times. (60 sts) **Round 12:** purl all stitches around. Continue shaping the crown by alternating rows with decreases at the beginning of each section and rows with decreases at the end of each section until you have 18 stitches remaining. Trim the yarn, leaving a 10-15 cm tail. Using a crochet hook or tapestry needle, thread the yarn tail through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the opening. Finish by weaving in the ends. ### **Knitting the ties (make 2):** Using 3.5 mm DPNs, knit an I-cord: Cast on 3 stitches. *Knit all stitches, then slide the stitches to the other end of the needle without turning the work. Repeat from * until the I-cord measures 66 cm (26 in) in length. Bind off and weave in the ends. Fold the tie in half. Pull the top loop through the bottom corner of the hat, then thread the ends of the tie through this loop and pull tight to create a knot. ### **Knitting frog’s eyes (make 2):** **Round 1:** Using a 3.5 mm crochet hook and black yarn, start with a magic ring. Work 8 SC into the ring, then join with sl st to the first SC. (8 sts) **Round 2:** Ch 1, 2 SC into the same stitch as join, 2 SC in each stitch around. To join, insert the hook into the 1st SC, draw up a loop, yarn over with new (white) color and pull through both loops to complete the stitch. Cut the black yarn. (16 sts). **Round 3:** ch 1, SC into the same stitch as join, 2 SC in next st, [SC in next st, 2 SC in next st] – repeat around. Join with sl st to 1st SC. (24 sts) **Round 4:** ch 1: SC into the same stitch as join, SC in next st, 2 SC in next st, [SC in next 2 sts, 2 SC in next st] – repeat around (32 sts). Change the yarn color to green as described previously. Cut the white yarn. **Rounds 5-9:** ch 1, SC in each st around. Join with sl st to 1st SC. (32sts) **Round 10:** ch 1, [SC in next 2 sts, SC2tog] – repeat around. Join with sl st to 1st SC.(24 sts) **Round 11:** ch 1, [SC in next st, SC2tog] – repeat around. Join with sl st to 1st SC. (16 sts) **Round 12:** ch 1, [SC2tog] – repeat around. Join with sl st to 1st SC. (8 sts) Cut the yarn, leaving a 15 cm tail. Stuff the eye with fiber until it looks the way you like. Using a yarn needle, thread the tail, pick up the front loops of the remaining 8 stitches, and pull tight to close the back of the eye. Do not cut the yarn; use it to sew the eye to your hat. Find the perfect spot for the eyes by standing in front of a mirror and pinning them in place until you’re satisfied with the position. I hope you enjoyed making this project with me! Don’t forget to share your finished frog hat by tagging me on social media.

Very NYC #nokings - there are masses of protesters in Times Square mingling with clueless foreign tourists and lots of immigrants trying to sell stuff on the sidewalk. Also there’s a street fair on 8th ave. And we have a Trump impersonator.

The bases for my protest are rooted in a mix of love, despair, fury, and hope for my country.

It's been angering to be continually mischaracterized by Trumpists and the cowed media as both weak and violent, as both hateful and meek, as humorless easily bullied stiffs.

What […]
