Anyways I discussed this with one of my attorneys, after which we met a really cute baby. “That baby’s so cute I could serve it a subpoena” might have been said….

I broke rule #5 today and had major regrets :(

The damage is suuuper minimal but I am annoyed. The universe is unkind.

And they want us to take more cases! I’ve watched attorneys have *actual* mental breakdowns over their current caseloads. I’ve watched attorneys quit because they couldn’t pay their bills doing this job. Being an investigator has its perks but watching countless attorneys burn out isn’t one of them!

They put all the blame on PDs for “not taking enough cases” but they never blame the DAs for overcharging or for bringing cases up to the morning of trial and then being unable to proceed. This crisis is not our fault alone.

Or even the best day of my life, tbh…

It’s a routine part of my day and I believe in the cause that I’m working for! But yeah sometimes it feels gross to know the intimate details of peoples’ lives. I’m talking medical records, police reports, testimony—I wouldn’t want the details of the worst day of my life in the public record.
