🧵1/4 Yesterday’s pupil absence stats show persistent school absence in England remains stubbornly high: 18% of pupils miss at least 10% of school.

At the current rate of improvement, school attendance could take four years to return to pre-pandemic levels.

We recently completed the first year of the Impetus Learning Exchange and Resource Network, otherwise known as ILEARN™ (yes, we started with the acronym and built backwards).

To be most effective, the guarantee must be offered early – within four months of leaving employment or education, rather than after 18 months of disengagement. And with so many young people facing such high barriers to work, the guarantee must offer more than just a placement.
