Whatever stage of capitalism this is, I hate it. Can we please make this stop?

I don’t want to invest like the oligarchy. I don’t want Congress trading stocks on inside info. I don’t want to live in a world where instead of dismantling awful systems, we tell people they should make money off them.

Spending a LOT of time reading esp on Substack and was introduced to the idea of White Leverage today by Desiree Stephens. And LOVE. Because the thing about leverage is it means that a little effort gives big impact.

How to Use Your Leverage Instead of Hoarding It 1. Leverage your presence. Show up where Black and brown people face the highest risks. Be a barrier, a witness, an advocate. 2. Leverage your credibility. If people assume you're "reasonable" while assuming others are "angry" or "radical," use that credibility to shift conversations. 3. Leverage your networks. Who do you know? What access do you have? Use your connections to uplift those who don't have the same reach. 4. Leverage your discomfort. If the conversation makes you uncomfortable, lean in. If you don't understand, ask. If it feels overwhelming, good. That means you're in the right place. 5. Leverage your money. Donate to Black-led organizations, not just those with a diversity statement. Move your money to community-run banks and businesses. Divest from institutions upholding white supremacy. Leverage or Be Leveraged. Your Choice.

We were already a deeply unserious people. And part of me wanted to laugh at this, but the erosion of earnest, dignified government conduct is meant to undermine alllll government.

When he said "drain the swamp" he didn't mean the people in government; he meant the entire government.

It's really rude to call Elon Musk's cars Swasticars. It hurts Tesla stock. Just typing Swasticars adds to his frustration. Swasticars is a made up word. Swasticars is mocking Elon Musk's innocent Roman salute. Pls stop using Swasticars as a way to mock the Naz... the guy who makes 'Swasticars'

She said Muhammad's detention designation had changed in July, though both units are in the prison's Special Management Housing. His solitary confinement followed an incident where Regan said Muhammad asked to speak to a supervisor, and instead guards tased and beat him, then threw him in the hole. The only comparable sentence to come out of 2020 protests in Portland was for Alan Swinney, a member of the far-right Proud Boys gang who was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Swinney was convicted at trial for charges related to pulling a handgun on protesters and firing a paintball gun, injuring a demonstrator's eye. The Oregon Department of Corrections limits consecutive solitary confinement to 90 days - which is long compared to other states like California, which has a 10-day maximum, or New York, which caps use of solitary at 15 days. At least 17 other states have recently considered limits between 10 to 15 days. The Department of Corrections, however, restarts the clock when a person is transferred between different categories of housing, Regan said, which is why Muhammad has been kept in solitary for longer than the 90-day limit.
