A recent video is circulating that claims vaccines were not the reason polio stopped spreading in the U.S. In reality, polio vaccination was so successful that between 1955 (when the vaccine was introduced) and 1961, yearly cases dropped from 58,000 to just 161. By 1979, the U.S. was polio-free.
