I mean I'm sure players will find a way to ambush and loot the shit out of all those patrols and I think that's beautiful/maybe the core appeal of this. Be the Teutoberg Germans and make Augustus cry, "Give me back my legions!"

Has anyone really done a systems-based Red Dawn kinda thing? Maybe XCOM2? Basically playing as the annoying barbarian/rebel faction that keeps popping up in strategy games.

Visibility meter goes up as you draw ire from the "real" factions. Higher = sends out patrols to find your base.

what's your solution for adding equipment etc to the model in game? (or do you plan to modify the animations to include clothes etc)

Which is a shame because, again, wow what a cool world to explore! I wish I was motivated by "I need to defeat this cave so I can paint my house red" instead of "I need to optimize resource collection and allocation like in survival games and city managers".

People are having a blast with it still, but mainly it's building a huge castle that no one will attack, a cool model of a boat that doesn't sail, etc. The loop was and is still "make better tools so you can find cooler stuff to build your house out of" despite a decade of survival features added.

yes I have played a lot of Good Art Games this year like 1000xResist, The Alters, Mouthwashing, Outer Wilds, Pentiment and Frostpunk 2 but now I must see my shadow and do shooter slop once again
