Is it just me or does everyone feel like this year seems longer than most?

Our PM needs to reconsider the benefit cuts they've been proposing the last wee while. Up the taxes on the super rich instead - they have broad enough financial shoulders to be able to pay their share, and I know a lot of them have no issue with that idea, but a tiny vocal minority take issue...

How can any normal person think that what Trump initiated against Iran was anything other than a bullying tactic? It's all he knows how to do - he's just in a position now where he has a very big stick and he doesn't care who he uses it on as long as it suits what he currently wants

I'm hoping now that the PM has done this initial deal with the EU and the country didn't explode (other than the usual RW hacks) that he'll start being more adventurous in other ways too

I'm not sure why the Scottish Tories and Scottish Labour haven't realised that if they want to make up a Scottish government, they just have to do 2 things: 1. Cut off the Westminster party & 2. Embrace independence. That's all they have to do IMO

I think it's high time that ALL Scottish media starts calling out the stories putting down the scots government and its policies. It's not got everything right I'll admit, but overall it's been doing way better than the other countries in the UK, it's time we celebrated and showed pride in that

Labour needs to get a grip on itself. They do not have a core of hard right twits like the Tories did/do, and so do not need to appease them by lurching rightwards and continuing the Brexit fiasco, as shown by the left-leaning voters leaving them for the LibDems in the recent Local Elections...

Will we see 'mini-Trump' stuff happening in Reform-controlled councils? Their agenda seems very similar (waste and DEI out). They should be cautious, though. It's not worked well in the USA so far, and if it doesn't deliver quick results locally, they may be bounced down the road sharpish...

Labour needs to step up and sort things out with the EU. This continued fascination with all things Brexit needs to stop. We can see the harm it's causing us, and we can fix this. Sort out the free trade and free movement - we know now that those weren't causing our immigration 'issues', so sort it!

I think it's time for the rest of the world, especially those targeted by Trump's scattergun style tariff application, to work out how to give him the economic equivalent of the finger😀

I think it's time that the UK government decided to get us back to freedom of movement for goods and people between ourselves and the EU. There might be some minor pushback from the usual idiots, but the benefits for the UK far outweigh those 'empty vessel' noises.

In the last few days, we have seen the push that the rest of the world, especially Europe, has needed to cut the apron strings to the US. We need to stand together for what matters to us, and they need to realise that they are not the country that we need or want to rely on any more...

After what we've seen happen in the White House recently with various international leaders, it's time the world got on with things by ignoring the US government and working things out for & with themselves. The current US government has no interest in helping anyone else except its leader

As Trump continues to aimlessly alienate every country that USA actually needs as friends, his inevitable FAFO moment is getting closer and closer...
February 20, 2025 at 5:34 AM
I think NATO needs to prepare for Trump to properly withdraw the USA from it this time, not just waving his wallet around and whinging about 'everybody paying their full share'. He'll couch it in terms of not getting value for money or being too wasteful for what they get out of it.

I feel sorry for non-MAGA Americans - we may not have the most exciting leader in PM Keir Starmer over here, but I will take him over Trump any day! With every new knee-jerk action, U-turn or speech showing how little he understands a situation, I just shake my head, sit down and eat the popcorn.

I wonder at which point the boards of Tesla and SpaceX realise that Musk is becoming toxic for their brands. All the positives that he did in the initial stages of growth and development and proving everybody wrong about both those companies is being unravelled by his current obsession with politics

You know, Trump could be playing a blinder with his Government picks. He names people that everybody goes 'wtf', they then pull out or similar and he then submits another name and everybody goes 'ah, that's more sensible'. But if he'd gone for that name originally everyone would've had a square fit!

I will be watching with great interest all the commentators in the USA after DJT's inauguration next year, to see how long it is before they change their views from what they are currently putting out. I think there'll be some changes on both sides and it'll make for interesting watching🍿🍿🍿

The hysteria that certain people and media seem to be suffering from following the Government's budget plan need to get a grip and calm down. What the last Government were doing wasn't working no matter how many times they tried to do the same thing in different ways, so let's try something else!

You know, the more I read about Trump's prospective picks for his Government, the more I think there will be a point at which it implodes. Nobody seems to have an iota of experience that would lead them to be picked, other than being a 'yes' person to the next President....

Why is the question of whether labour should ask Farage to be an ambassador to the USA even being discussed? This has to be the stupidest idea out there! Trump will not do anything that might be considered to negatively impact himself or America, irrespective of who represents the UK's interests
