I read a lot of that Amodei essay you linked to, and I think it makes the case that a lot of the DOGE data and knowledge destruction (e.g. decades-long clinical trials) is tragically limiting the potential returns to AI.

Yeah I wouldn’t have said 3 months ago that it’d be possible for his approval to reach W 2008 levels, but I didn’t count on him to be this stupid.

(Also, W had a bit of a cult following too there for a while, and we remember how that turned out.)

I’d rather not torture myself by reading any Vance remarks, but yeah…. touting “dynamism” seems to be completely at odds with the actions of this administration so far

I think “more successful politically” is almost a guarantee… I do not think it is possible for him to leave office with a sub-30% approval rating, no matter what.

I also think not as bad substantively is also a very live possibility.
