I’m a big fan of Dan Abnett and Andy Lannning’s Doug, from the third New Mutants.

They increased his abilities in good ways (pattern recognition, spell casting), and wrote him very in-character with Claremont’s version.

Subsequent writers ignored this earlier (pre-Krakoa) glow-up.
