Root and branch reconstruction and life in prison for the majority of this administration and their enablers. They murdered Americans, they murdered children, they murdered our country - we take revenge. How is this hard to grasp.

Thank you for reading! I am deeply appreciative of your family's service. I'd imagine they served in the 15th WI Regiment as it was mainly comprised of Nordic and Dutch immigrants at the time. The regiment served throughout the Civil War, so they undoubtedly sacrificed much. Be well 💖

Remember to lend a hand to immigrants in your community, your family, and steel yourself with the resolve for a better tomorrow. (/🧵)

As a personal request, *do* celebrate today for the chaotic but equally beautiful principles that this country stands for. Not, in despair or depression at the worst elements of our society. Nor for the cynical derision of the best elements of our national spirit.

As many are filled with endless cynicism and despair at our current situation, know well that we have faced far worse and fared far better for it in the future. Yet, this was only enabled by what we - born or naturalized - Americans decide to fight for our future.

As with Lafeyette, Kościuszko, and down to my great grandfather, the beauty and endless optimism of our United States was - and is - formed by the selflessness of the poor, destitute, and hopeful immigrants to our nation.

As an expat myself - even during the digital age - expatriation for temporary or permanent reasons is extremely stressful and isolating at the best of times. Thus, I can only imagine my great grandfather's heartache but hope for a better life in our country.

My great grandfather immigrated to the United States eighty years ago, and his sacrificies enabled my family to succeed and excel in ways we never would have had he not taken the chance to get on his final voyage to New York in 1940.

There are, of course, far too many names to list in acknowledgement of their selflessness and belief in our country - or more simply, hating the British - but we owe our basic formation as a nation largely to those not born on our continent.

Steuben's reforms enabled a competent Continental Army to be formed from what was a ragtag group of militiamen and veterans of the British Army.
Armand's exploits are legendary for a great many reasons, in addition to being a true patriot - when that word meant very little to most.
