Axing the cycle-to-work scheme might seem like low-hanging fruit for a cash-strapped Treasury, but it would be a big mistake. Particularly with expensive kid-carrying cargo e-bikes, it's one of the most effective modal shift levers out there.

Absolutely unacceptable treatment of my wife and son at the hands of @gwr.com at Paddington this morning- more details to follow but in short their train was cancelled so a member of staff put them on an earlier one whereupon they were charged an EXTRA £68 as their ticket wasn’t valid.
